          Basic support for external graphic state smask support has been iimplemented. Until the feature is fully build out this feature needs to be enabled with the system property org.icepdf.core.disableXObjectSMask=false.

          The PDF in question now render correctly for the missing text shadow. I new bug will be created to capture the issue on page 2 and 3 where the smask is defined using a linear gradient.
