            Description

            Since time began we have been saving our preferences using a .properties file in the users home directory. The processes has work well but we have come across a few issues with regards to storage write access as well the lack of any storage.

            The preference API was introduced in JDK 1.4 which predates our initial version 1.0 which had JDK 1.2 support. The new API may also be useful to end users who which to serial session preferences.
