      Description

The official APIs for doing IPC (inter-portlet communication) don't work with Ajax requests because IPC requires ActionRequest/ActionResponse parameters and Ajax requests get handled as ResourceRequest/ResourceResponses. In these situations, we typically recommend using Ajax Push as an alternative where push requests from one portlet can trigger updates to other portlets on the page without a full-page refresh.

We get enough interest from customers wanting to use this technique that we should provide a tutorial and sample app that clearly illustrates the approach.
