Regression: compat component-showcase Google Maps not working correctly

            Description

            1) Load Google Maps in compat component-showcase (the map is loaded correctly)
            2) Now change the view of the map from 'Map' to 'Satellite'
            3) Notice the Map changes (it should have remained the same only view should have changed)
            it seems Gmap is trying to search for "--select--"

              1) Load Google Maps in compat component-showcase (the map is loaded correctly)
              2) Now uncheck the Show controls checkbox
              3) Notice the Map changes (it should have remained the same only controls should have been removed from the page)
              it seems Gmap is trying to search for "-select-"
