            When the rowselector is being used with the columns component, the rowSelection event being fired as many times as number of columns

              A little more information for this case. The setter method for the boolean binding is also being called x number of times where x is the number of columns in the dataTable. So if you have an even number of columns the boolean value switches between true and false on every call and you end up with no selected item. If your have a odd number of columns then you'll end up with the correct selection state.
