We have modified myfaces-example-simple-1.1.5-SNAPSHOT to use ICEfaces and tested updateActionListener, it is being invoked in proper phase and did same operation as with plain Myfaces.
Apparently it works well with ICEfaces, if some one has any particular issue. We can look into it.
