certify ICEfaces-3.3 and 4.3 with OpenJDK

    Details

      Description

Since Oracle has begun to limit support for their released JDK (and quickly stopping support on various versions), there is some interest in using OPENJDK

There's only one mysterious issue on the 3.3 showcase with the ace:menuBar component. This component appears hidden in all demos. It works fine when using the Oracle JDK 11.

There are a few other minor issues, but they don't seem related to the OpenJDK.

Note that the build script for the 3.3 samples had to be modified to compile with Java 1.6, instead of 1.5, as 1.5 seems to be unsupported by this OpenJDK version.

Resolving the issue as fixed. I can certify that the latest ICEfaces bundles (3.3 P07 and 4.3 P01) work normally with JDK 11.

I couldn't reproduce again the mysterious issue mentioned above. It could've been due to a first-time deployment or to not having the cache completely cleared when switching from JDK to JDK and between applications.

I confirmed that the other minor issues I found aren't related to the use of this JDK but are general issues.
