For version ICEpdf 4.3.4 you can use the system property -Dorg.icepdf.core.scaleImages=false which will keep the lines for rendering.
As for the issue with 5.0 please submit issue though support or creation issues in JIRA. We are releasing a 5.0.1 release in the next couple of days witch addresses many regressions. If you are doing page capture with 5.0.1 you can use the system property -Dorg.icepdf.core.imageProxy=false which fixes a few outstanding bugs with inline images.
