I've spend quite a bit of time in the debugger trying to figure this one out. It would appear the the embedded font is CID but the content stream is written in plain ascii. I don't know the trigger yet but the mapping provided doesn't map to the correct glyph in the font file. Further investigation is needed to find out if this is a flaw in the file (and how to compensate) or if this is cmap issue.
