It would be useful to have a device adaptive resource handler to dynamically server 1x, 1.5x, or 2x pixel density images. For Spring integration, this class could extend the ResourceHttpRequestHandler and dynamically downgrade high res images for clients. Downgraded Images could be generated on first request. The developer would need only to specify the image resource folder (it would need to be restricted to a folder, rather than a classpath, as images may need to be written to the file system).
