Checking for null in the converter

      Description

We have created a JSF2 training application. After adding ICEfaces to the application, a NPE is thrown when loading the main page.

The custom converter was throwing an NPE when switched from h:inputText to ice:inputText. The incoming string on the page load was null rather than "" (empty string). Checking for null in the converter works around this but the behaviour is different from JSF 2.0.
